MOTION PICTURE DEPARTMENT

Studio Virc is a Cannes Palme d’Or, European Film Award and César winning production company based in Slovenia, first established in 1992 and making bold steps into the feature and documentary film community since 2009.

Success with Houston, We Have a Problem! in 2016 launched the company firmly into the international arena of co-productions. Singaporean-Japanese film, our co-production Last Shadow At First Light by Nicole Midori, premiered at San Sebastian FF in 2023 and was awarded at several asian festivals.

In the same period we finished production of Shooting blanks, a second feature film by director Žiga Virc. The film was established as a Slovenian-Greek-Croatian co-production with Eurimages support.

One of our biggest successes is EFA (European Film Award) & Cesar awarded animation Granny’s Sexual Life, a Slovenian French co-production with CNC and Arte France on board, a festival darling with more than 50 awards.

We also produced our second feature documentary, Woman of God which received several awards at Slovenian film festival in 2023, AlJazeera Documentary co-production award and was selected for HOT DOCS international film festival in Toronto.

Our efforts were crowned in 2024 with The man who could not remain silent by Nebojša Slijepčević by winning Palme d’Or in Cannes for best short film. We are about to release a serbian film The Great Tram Robbery by famous director Slobodan Šijan and we currently have two fiction films in pre-production.

Since 1992, we have produced more than 1,000 films for clients from different industries and business fields. We produce corporate and promo films, TV commercials, films for sales promotion, training & educational films and various public relations videos.
